Your ZIP is the start, not the answer.

Public water data is organized by water system, not by ZIP code, and many ZIPs have more than one system. The Explorer is built around that truth.

Municipal water

If a public system serves your home, your Explorer report will draw on that system's published quality results and annual Consumer Confidence Report, name the sources, and show the reporting period. Detected levels are shown next to their regulatory limits and health-based goals, because a number without its context invites the wrong reaction.

Private wells

Well water is not monitored by a utility, and the EPA recommends well owners test regularly, including annually for bacteria and nitrates. If you tell the Explorer you are on a well, it will guide you to testing first, not treatment shopping.

What a report will never do

  • Claim to be a test of the water in your home. It is not.
  • Assign your home a supplier without asking you to confirm it.
  • Turn a trace detection into a scare headline, or hide a violation.
  • Recommend a product before it understands the concern.
